Finally made it to the next chapter of this escapade...
But first, I'll try to get us back on the same page...
Mumbai
Finished here this past Friday...left the city with countless memories and a few years worth of life experience. From Bandra to Colaba...Sion, Mahim, Matunga...Malabar to Dadar and most points in between, we were one with the city. The mantra: get into the map, become one with the map, you are the map...experience it all. We did.
The days were long, the nights a little longer. It was hot with plentiful sunshine and a little dusty from lack of precipitation. Each day/night, we walked for miles and tried new foods (staying veg at all times). Life moved at a fast pace, but time moved slow. Infrastructure here is like no other - it is out to get you, but I never saw an accident nor was part of one. Trains, tuk-tuk, taxis, buses, cars, trucks, bicycles, motos plus millions of people and millions of animals...Mumbai is alive. Too much to write about, too much to explain.
Our project with our NGO allowed us to meet so many amazing people and will hopefully help with the vision and mission of RG.
And there were projects developed by us, for us...Like market and bazaar exploration, fruits/veg education and experimentation, long walks, both day and night, in unfamiliar places, and the commitment to eat at new spots each day- on the streets, in small one room shops, tiny restaurants, and even a few "touristy" ones.
There's not a lot we failed to see. From the highest level of wealth to the lowest, holy sites, rooftop bars, the daily grind of getting to Churchgate or CST, and millions of people...we lived and breathed Mumbai. Emotions run high.
And then there were the challenges...
We completed Dare to DKA (remember?)... It was time for Dine and Dash...
Maybe not as impressive as we hoped it would be, but still a success. Minus the fact there was a little breakdown in language and I got 4 veg samosa with no water when the challenge had called for one veg samosa and one bottle of water...but still I didn't get left behind like we thought/planned for. I also think I've set the stage for someone to do the "big one"...same scenario, but at Dadar during peak traffic --> Good Luck :)
*Note, the challenge list is as follows:
Back to Mumbai, then jumped on a plane...and now here, in Rajasthan. Will be here for some time...lots to see and do. Starting this morning with a new NGO.

*Note, the challenge list is as follows:
- Dare to DKA √
- Dine and Dash √
- ***** in (name of city) - keeping it a mystery for now ;)
- Masala Challenge (le sigh)
- Operation Cobra (have a photo taken with a cobra)......this was an idea from a friend...if you've got a challenge you want us to consider, comment on this post...we'll see what we can do.
Overall Mumbai was a blast (literally at one point too).
Happy.
Excursion
We had a few free days before we headed to our next NGO so we figured we should be diligent citizens of the earth and check out a World Heritage Site...
Hopped a train to one of the world's most beautiful sites.
Stunning.

Such a difference between the energy in Mumbai and the tranquility of a smaller community. India all the same...awesome.
| Ever worry about a tiger, leopard, or panther taking you out while on a walk? Awesome. |
For later: we've now developed two games for our friends...cricket and knock out. Going to be amazing...you can't wait.
Enjoy the ambiguity ;)
Life is a story, you are the author, write one.
Until we meet again.
Wow, sounds like you are having a great time. We loved the country-side. Everything here is going good. Lexus is doing very well, just hanging out. Talk to you soon.
ReplyDeleteI need you to find me a yak wool blanket, like from Nepal . I could not locate one anywhere . Also drink camel milk, dad and I did. ( we think). Have fun, oh I drove your car today for you.
